Beaty Spot: Cult Beauty

My obsession with podcast (and Youtube) has lead to me to yet another great podcast, At home with.. , hosted by youtubers Anna (from the Anna Edit) and Lily Pebbles; in which they conducted interviews with these amazing women in beauty, like Lisa Eldridge and founder of By Terry. In this week’s episode, they interviewed the co-founder of cult beauty, Alexia Inge; which made me realize – I haven’t written anything about Cult Beauty in my blog yet! Why this happened is beyond me, since Cult Beauty has been my go-to place to buy beauty products (other than Sephora). This is the place that does not have almost every brand, but every single one on the site is as good as a brand can get, no exception, big or small brands – “Sunday Riley, MV Organic, Charlotte Tilbury, Pixi, Huda, Tata Harper, Oskia”  On top of that, if you live in the US, full price of the product on site is usually 70% of the price of those same products sold in the states (no …

Travel to Cuba – Why No Internet was Actually a Bliss

My biggest fear, before traveling to Cuba two weeks ago, was that there would be no internet connection there. Text messaging and phone calling are also extremely expensive. So basically, it means you are isolated from the rest of the world the entire time you are in Cuba, no Instagram and Snapchat for you to prove to others you are having a good time; or anything for you to look down at to avoid awkward eye contact. It turned out, this digital-detox trip was the best trip I’ve had in years, AND IT WAS BECAUSE there was no internet available. Because you can finally use your own eyes to look at this beautiful country without busy snapchatting; you can have deep, heart-to-heart conversations with you friend during each meal with no one staring at their phones anymore; you can really be in peace and hear the voice inside you without all the distracting information popping in front your eyes when you scroll through every piece of news, every single email, and social media channels. I highly recommend you to …

My Top Tips On Being More Efficient

I used to be the queen of procrastination. Admit it, we’ve all been there! But it’s not us, it’s the allurement of social media, cozy beds and pure satisfaction out of just doing nothing. One of my 2016 resolutions was to be more efficient; specifically, achieve three goals on my to-do list everyday. I think I did pretty well (kinda). So at the start of this year, I want to share with you my experience and tips I’ve learned on becoming more efficient. 1. Making List & Invest in a good notebook: Planning is key. I used to be someone that start to do whatever pop into my head at the moment . At the end of day I usually end up with nothing finished. A good way to plan is to start with your yearly goals, and split it to more specific monthly/weekly/daily goals. But don’t write a daily to-do list the size of an island, you will feel discouraged by not finishing most of them and eventually gave up making list and sticking to …

3 Things To Do on Your Commute

If you want to avoid awkwardly(“accidentally”) staring at strangers and feel semi-productive. Podcasts I’ve been really obsessed with podcasts lately. There are just so many interesting stuff out there! Plus I can rest my eyes while getting wired to a story. The Start Up: Each season shows you the behind the scenes stories of a start up, from finding partners to pitching investors. The reporting style makes it really informative and entertaining, especially for anyone who knows nothing about business but want to start one.   Serial: The podcast version of making a murderer. I was so sucked into the stories that I missed my stop twice!   Oh Boy ( from man repeller): My favorites from this podcast are interviews on successful entrepreneurs: Emily Weiss (Into the gloss),  Alicia Yoon (Peach and lily), Jordan Kier (Lola), Payal Kadakia (Classpass). News App  If you want to catch up on your morning news, you should use the news app that comes with your iPhone; which I don’t know it exists until my friend told me about …

You need this for a good night of sleep

One of the most important rules in skincare 101 is to have 7-9 hours of sleep every night. But in today’s fast-pacing world,  most of us are well below that standard. I have had trouble falling asleep recently due to stress and anxiety (finding jobs, schoolworks…all that shiz).   So I digged out thiswork’s deep sleep pillow spray from my stash, which i’ve heard really good reviews about but did not have a chance to use before. After trying it out for a week, I have to say this spray does wonders!   First, the spray makes it really easy to use, you can spray it onto your pillow, around your room or even onto your body, wherever you want! And the essential oils (Lavender, Vetivert and Wild Camomile) in it, not only soothes and relax your body, but are blended in a way that’s not as strong to smell as some other essential oils do. All in all, this product is groundbreaking, it knocks me out every night literally in 5 mins or maybe 2? Cannot remember …

How to Save Money on Beauty Buys

This post is dedicated to all the beauty junkies out there.    1. First go through every product you own.    2. Use CashBack – even if it’s just $1! Aside from the obvious Credit Card cash programs, which offers only 1%-5% depending on your purchase type, my favorite cashback website has to be Ebates.   It consistently offers 1% – 15% cashbacks on almost every online store , from Barneys to Sephora. That is on average 10% off every order. You can simply install the Ebates plug-in on your web-browser , it will alert you whenever you are at a online store that offers cashback through Ebates. I have gained $1000 cashbacks through Ebates for the past 2 years, which is, amaaazing!   3. Wait until there is Discounts/Offer This is a no-brainer but many of us just cannot wait for the time when there’s discount to get that gorgeous lipstick ! Wait, unless it’s limited edition (that’s really another story)   4.But Don’t stock up on products when there are discounts I am …

Bloom – Estee Lalonde

I am surprised and not surprised that Estee Lalonde wrote such a great book. I am surprised because I thought it would be another “blogger book” with 10 outfit ideas, 5 makeup tips and 3 recipes. I am not surprised because, duh, it’s Estee. It’s a book about Estee but not only about her. I teared up reading the first two chapters because it resonated so much with me and I believe will be so many others as well.  I admired her for thinking back on old memories (especially the bad ones) and then put them into words and share with the readers – the mistakes she made and lessons she learned. So many books are written just for the sake of writing one, you can feel that energy reading it. And there is rarely a “real person” book (could’ve thought of a better word) like the Bloom. Every word in this book is so authentic and down-to-earth to the point that it’s like her talking to you in person. In her book, Estee reminds us …

Microcurrent Facial at SB Skin

I discovered SB Skin and its microcurrent treatment through an article about Emily Weiss‘s wedding preparation on Into the Gloss. I knew it might be a marketing hype. But since I was looking for some good facial spots in NYC anyway, I wanted to try it out! Apparently, everybody else in NYC saw the article and then it was impossible to book an time that works for me, till today. I had my microcurrent facial this afternoon with Anna, a cheerful and very knowledgeable aesthetician at SB skin. And I have to say, my face is very firm, uplifted and glowing after the 50 mins treatment. Plus, the experience was much more relaxing than I thought it would be. Let me take you through the process and tell you everyting else you need to know while my memory is still fresh. Treatment: Microcurrent Facial Duration: 50 mins Price: $190+Tax+Tips After I laid down, Anna explained to me about the microcurrent technology – a electrical current that stimulate the facial muscle, and therefore diminish lines and lift and countor the face. A …
