3 Things To Do on Your Commute

If you want to avoid awkwardly(“accidentally”) staring at strangers and feel semi-productive. Podcasts I’ve been really obsessed with podcasts lately. There are just so many interesting stuff out there! Plus I can rest my eyes while getting wired to a story. The Start Up: Each season shows you the behind the scenes stories of a start up, from finding partners to pitching investors. The reporting style makes it really informative and entertaining, especially for anyone who knows nothing about business but want to start one.   Serial: The podcast version of making a murderer. I was so sucked into the stories that I missed my stop twice!   Oh Boy ( from man repeller): My favorites from this podcast are interviews on successful entrepreneurs: Emily Weiss (Into the gloss),  Alicia Yoon (Peach and lily), Jordan Kier (Lola), Payal Kadakia (Classpass). News App  If you want to catch up on your morning news, you should use the news app that comes with your iPhone; which I don’t know it exists until my friend told me about …

Review: Glossier New Generation G Lipstick

As a grad student in marketing, I am always looking at how different companies and brand acquire new customers and build up their brand loyalty. In today’s digital world, the key of making a successful brand essentially are (i) personalization and customization of products (ii) engagement and presence in brand community, from social media to forums & brand website. Glossier was able to do both of them. It incorporated customers’ opinion in its product development from the start (smart!), and always keep their ears open to product feedbacks. It’s really a win-win situation, customers get the exact products they want and glossier gets a group of loyal (obsessed) customers. The new Generation_G Lipstick was formulated and improved based on feedbacks on the old formula. The previous version was good, but this one is perfection. Let’s dive in.   Formula: A diffused, sheer matte goodness. The new formula makes it easier to glide on, much more moisturizing and last longer. You don’t feel you have anything on your lips.   Packaging: I love how light and …

Tatcha Annual Friends & Family Event – 20% Off

Tatcha is having its annual 20% Off Friends & Family event right now until Nov 20th! Tatcha is hands down one of my favorite brand, I’ve gone through bottles of its cleansing oil and rice enzyme powders. Granted it is a pricey brand and not many discount around, so this is the time to stock up on your favorite Tatcha products (I know I will!). If you have never tried Tatcha products before, I highly recommend you to start with its $59 discovery set. Tatcha has 4 discovery set available suited to your skin type. A few of my favorites from Tatcha:   Luminous Dewey Skin Mist: Get rid of your Becca highlighter, this is the new cult favorite of makeup artists and Youtubers for that final touch of dewey skin as well as a little pick-me-up during the day. Plus, the spray nozzle is specially designed so the mist is super fine! Pure One Step Cleansing Oil: Formulated without mineral oil (can clog pores and cause acnes), paraben, synthetic colors or fragrances, the cleansing oil emulsify …

The Best Concealers

As I got older, I’ve learned to stop covering my whole face in foundations, and start to embrace the little imperfections, with the help of some concealers of course 🙂 Let’s unpack 3 of my favorites now.   Best for under-eyes & around-the-noses: By Terry Terribly Densities Concealer   It’s the same formula as the foundation that I’ve been wearing almost everyday and raved about constantly for the past year. The formula is hydrating, silky and sheer, not even a whisper of creases. Easy to apply with the wand to under-eye darkness & around-the-noses redness. Perfect  for fall/winter, need some setting powder in Summer. Best for blemishes & hyperpigmentation: Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer   It covers well, looks natural and stays put (waterproof!), everything you should look for in a concealer for blemishes and dark spots. It also doesn’t exacerbate my acne.   Best for…almost everything: Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Full Cover Concealer   Skin-like finish – creamy and blend like a dream. It also has a decent coverage, so you can use …

Review: Glossier Limited Edition Black Tie Set

When Glossier says limited edition, you set your alarm and get it before it run out of stock again! The set arrived yesterday so I got a chance to test out all the products this morning. Personally, I have mixed feeling about this set. But for the price point ($50), I think it’s denifitely worth to have this in your stash or send it as a holiday gift! (Get 20% off here)   1.Lip Gloss My favorite out of the set is the lip gloss. The packaging is super cute (as all glossier products are), the formula is quite moisturizing, and the best thing is that the gloss stay put for a long time. I would not say it’s not sticky at all, but it’s bearable.     2.Haloscope This one is a beauty and another favorite! I believe it’s because it has real Moonstone in it (so cool!), the flecks of pink and blue is just mesmerizing. The cool undertone makes it very versatile as a highlighter, you can apply it to your cheekbones, brow bones, …

You need this for a good night of sleep

One of the most important rules in skincare 101 is to have 7-9 hours of sleep every night. But in today’s fast-pacing world,  most of us are well below that standard. I have had trouble falling asleep recently due to stress and anxiety (finding jobs, schoolworks…all that shiz).   So I digged out thiswork’s deep sleep pillow spray from my stash, which i’ve heard really good reviews about but did not have a chance to use before. After trying it out for a week, I have to say this spray does wonders!   First, the spray makes it really easy to use, you can spray it onto your pillow, around your room or even onto your body, wherever you want! And the essential oils (Lavender, Vetivert and Wild Camomile) in it, not only soothes and relax your body, but are blended in a way that’s not as strong to smell as some other essential oils do. All in all, this product is groundbreaking, it knocks me out every night literally in 5 mins or maybe 2? Cannot remember …

4 No-Brainer Single Eyeshadows (feat. Burberry, MAC, Dior, By Terry)

We all love watching those makeup tutorials with all the layering and smudging of eyeshadows. But aside from the pure enjoyment of watching them, who really has the time to actually do them everyday?!  I have 4 of my favorite single eyeshadows from Mac, By Terry, Dior and Burberry that will make your eyes pop and without all the fuss. 1. MAC – Omega A cult classic for natural eye contouring. The color is spot on: not too orange and not too grey. And it blends especially well with Asian’s skintone. I apply this along my nose bridges and eye socket as a eye coutour & nose shadow for more definition.   2. Burberry – Pale Barley No. 102 I have heard Estee rave about the Burberry Pale Barley for a long time. The color does not look that impressive in the pan, but gorgeous on the eyes.  If you want a brown/beige eyeshadow with some golden shimmer to it, this is the one.  It is Burberry, so you know the formula is good – soft, …
