Get Frizz-less Hair with these 3 Products

Like skincare, finding the holy grail hair products involves a lot of trial and wrong. I am always searching for products that can take care my oily scalp and tame the frizzy hair. I think now is the time (after trying so many!), that I can say I am very comfortable with everything I put on my hair. Simple, no fuzz, get the job done within a reasonable budget! For Everyday: Davines Love Smoothing Shampoo – $26 (8.45 oz): Before Davines Love, I had been using the Oribe Repair & Restore Shampoo for a long time. But the price was just …well…let’s just say cannot afford to spend my life with it. Then I found Davine Love in one of the Birchbox subscription boxes. It’s just perfect perfect for my asian thick, coarse, frizzy-like-crazy hair. Clean check! Soft to touch check! Smooth check! Frizz-less check!  Apart from the smell (ok but not great), I think it’s even better than Oribe’s.   For the Smell & Shine: Oribe Glod Lust Nourishing Hair Oil – $37 (1.7oz): …

Microcurrent Facial at SB Skin

I discovered SB Skin and its microcurrent treatment through an article about Emily Weiss‘s wedding preparation on Into the Gloss. I knew it might be a marketing hype. But since I was looking for some good facial spots in NYC anyway, I wanted to try it out! Apparently, everybody else in NYC saw the article and then it was impossible to book an time that works for me, till today. I had my microcurrent facial this afternoon with Anna, a cheerful and very knowledgeable aesthetician at SB skin. And I have to say, my face is very firm, uplifted and glowing after the 50 mins treatment. Plus, the experience was much more relaxing than I thought it would be. Let me take you through the process and tell you everyting else you need to know while my memory is still fresh. Treatment: Microcurrent Facial Duration: 50 mins Price: $190+Tax+Tips After I laid down, Anna explained to me about the microcurrent technology – a electrical current that stimulate the facial muscle, and therefore diminish lines and lift and countor the face. July Love List

I am starting this series of monthly love list. But instead of a fix list of categories, I will just group together all my favorites each month. It can be anything from beauty stuff to food and movies, which make more sense than trying to find something just to put into each category. Ok, no more rambling, this is my July Love List. Skincare MV Organics Rose Oil: I was introduced to this Australian organic skincare brand by Estee Lelonde. She has sensitive skin and really adores the its line of products. I decide to gave this oil a go finally when I was in the market for a hydrating oil; but this oil does so much more than that. Formulated with all natural ingredients, it helps to decongest, calm any redness or inflammation and strengthen your skin. Since I started using it, my skin has been better  than ever – no breakouts & supple & glowy skin. I feel like it also helps with my scars’ healing process. What I like to do is to …

The natural nail polish remover that works!

I have been more and more cautious about what I put on my body.  A non-toxic nail polish remover is certainly something that’s up my ally. Just have a whiff of the regular nail polish remover, and you know that ain’t no good for you; plus they dry out your nails! I spotted this one by Karma Naturals on Rachel’s blog (http://www.thatschic.net – Follow her she’s so cool !). It’s formulated with soybean oil – so no toxic/chemical fumes. I bought the one with tea tree oil, but there is also a lavender one and an original one available. In fact I just received it from Amazon yesterday; but was so impressed that I have to pop up and share with you guys. One pad soaked with the oil is all you need to remove 10 finger nails with double layers of nail polish. While at the same time, it hydrate your nails and cuticles really well. I won’t need to hold my breath every time I use nail polish remover any more! Follow me on …

5 Shades of Red

Red lip is the eternal classic. A pop of red on the lip and your whole look is immediately elevated. It was until recently that I’ve started to wear more and more red on my lip. Before, I was a pinky lip kind of girl, red just does not look right on me – like I am wearing my mom’s lipstick. But now, I guess I am at the age that I have to be more like a grown up (though in my heart I still feel like a 18 year old);  red lip becomes what I go for everyday and I am addicted. So here they are – my favorite 5 shades of red.   1. Charlotte Tilburry Matte Revolution Lipstick in Walk of Shame: I was amazed by the quality of CT’s matte lipsticks – creamy, non-drying, long lasting (like for real) finish with great color payoff. The best matte lipstick I’ve ever used. Walk of shame is a rusty red that  makes you look really chic in autumn or winter . My …

3 Youtubers you need to follow, like right now!

It’s been 3 years since I got into the Youtube vortex. In the beginning, because everything was so new to me, I love every Youtuber I follow, their beauty hauls, makeup tutorials, monthly favorites – just to name a few of the classic beauty videos on Youtube. But there comes a point  you just get bored of things that are always the same or like everything else you’ve seen. In the Youtube world, that means watching Youtubers describing every product as “so so so good” or “AMAZING!” over and over again. Some Youtubers are just so mindful of what’s trendy and what kind of videos are popular that their own characters slowly disappear. I am not trying to undermine anybody’s hard work. Making videos and blog posts do take a lot of time and effort. But for me personally, I lost interest in whoever that put a mask on to please the internet or got a beautiful face but nothing to say. So about a year ago, I stopped following some Youtubers and kept only a few that never …

The "EX" Mask – SK-II Treatment Mask

My friends and I call it the “EX” mask. Because it’s the magical mask that, after just one application, will make your skin so supple, glowing and so perfect that if you “accidentally” run into your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend the next day , he/she will beg you to take him/her back ( a little imaginative scene of ours, not that any of us have purposely done that before:) ) Essentially, it is the mask form of the famous SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, or the “Miracle Water”, with the brand’s signature ingredient, Pitera. Pitera contains nourishing vitamin, amino acids, minerals and acids that can promote the skin’s renewal but at the same time moisturize and brighten the skin. The ingredient was discovered in Japan when scientists caught sight of the wrinked faces of aged sake brewers contrasting their youthful hands. Then they were able to isolate the single yeast string from sake fermentation process that makes skin crystal clear, and that is, Pitera. BUT (and this is a big but), the mask has 10 times the concentration of Pitera …
