Thoughts On Blogging

I have tried blogging before (twice actually), on both blogger.com and wordpress.  Wrote up a few post on skincare, and then that’s it. I figured I gave up because I wasn’t writing in my native language, so I tried a chinese platform (weibo – chinese version of twitter). I put a lot of effort into it at first, but after a while I only repost instead of posting anything  myself… It’s not that I have nothing to write about. I have tried out a lot of skicncare products as well as makeup and have a lot of opinions on Beauty; and many many other things (Seriously, if you are ever in my head, it’s a CRAZY world in there!! ) – as you can see here I ramble a lot. Looking back, I realized that it’s because I’ve lost track of why I wanted to start a beauty blog in the first place. Instead I was discouraged just by the fact that I did not have much followers, or I did not get to collaborate with …

3 Skincare Products I cannot live without.

1. Tatcha Cleansing Oil – One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil, $48 ( 150ml ) A staple in my skincare routine for almost a year now. If I wear makeup, as I do most days,  I use this cleansing oil first to melt away all my makeup, and then double cleanse with a foamy facewash. Sometimes I even use this in the morning. Formulated without mineral oil (can clog pores and cause acnes), paraben, synthetic colors or fragrances, the cleansing oil emulsify quickly, gently removes all the makeup and dirt without drying out my skin or leaving any residues; which is what a lot of cleansing oils does to me. A cheaper alternative would be The Body Shop’s Chamomile Silky Cleansing Oil, it’s also vegan, paraben free and has no mineral oil. For me, I think it does not clean as thoroughly as the Tatcha one. Though I don’t mind about that too much because I always double cleanse – I really believe in double cleanse!! 2. SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, …

Byredo – Rose of No Man’s Land

Follow my blog with Bloglovin I know I would eventually snap and go into the Byredo SoHo store. And I did last week. The temptation was more out of curiosity. This is a “niche brand”  everyone talks about now apparently (just look at the bottle, that is a work of art by itself). But scent is a very personal thing, just because so many people like a particular one does not mean it is up to my taste / smell ? (hint hint: LeLabo Rose31 – really not my thing -smells like a man who smokes with rose perfume on.) At the help of a very “Zen” staff (his voice was so soothing the whole time I feel like I was in the clouds and oh I loved it), I tried some of the most popular ones ( gypsy water, mojave ghost etc.). Rose of no man’s land caught my eyes with its beautiful name; and then won my heart with this intoxicatingly fresh, clean, sweet and not rose rose scent. The only way I can explain this is …

The not so terrifying in-home peel.

I know peel can sound very intimidating; as it usually implies harsh, stripping exfoliation that leave your skin red and tight. You don’t have to worry about all that with this Philosophy microdelivery in-home vitamin c peptide peel. It’s quite gentle yet powerful enough to give you instantly smoother, brighter and glory skin (due to vitamin c and peptides) with no downtime.   I sometimes use this before going out, and with my favorite By Terry foundation, my makeup looks flawless – actually like my own skin; without any residual irritation or redness. This is a little trick of mine, exfoliate beforehand if you want your makeup to look like your skin and stay on all night. I was born with congested skin, so I need to exfoliate routinely to prevent any pimples from coming out. I use this philosophy peel once a week to make sure of that. I had used up a set of this peel and went through a period without one at my hand. My skin was noticeably dull and bumpy. Now …

5 Makeup Items I am obsessed with.

1.  Cle de Peau Beauté – Perfect Lash Mascara, $50 If you have short straight lashes and your eye makeup always smudges like I do.Then this is the Mascara for you! I know it costs $50 , but it lasts for almost half a year and it’s like no other mascara out there. It lengthens, volumize but what makes it really stand out is that it keeps the curl all day long and is completely smudge proof; without tiny mascara fibers falling under your eyes like some other water-proof mascara does on the market. Since I discovered this one 2 years ago, I have not used any other mascara. I have tried, of course; but no other is as good as this one. 2.By Terry – Terribly Densiliss Foundation, $116 I was introduced to this brand by Estee Lalonde ( my favorite youtuber/blogger. She is so gorgeous and funny and has such a unique character, I stalk her everyday and I am not ashamed of that). Thanks to her recommendation, I found the perfect perfect foundation …

Japanese At-home Drip on coffee

I came across this coffee brand in my local Japanese market. I was looking for easy-making instant coffee to drink at home so I don’t need to get dressed, and run down to the coffee shop whenever I crave for coffee (which is often…) AND I really don’t want to commit to a Coffee Machine. Because I know once I get it I would drink a lot of coffee just to make the money worth. As we all know, too much coffee is no good for your body.
